My apologies, the front page on my webblog is getting kind of crowded. I got this neat feature idea, Last 10 Entries by Category, from a friendly guy with terrible politics, Richard Ames. I inserted the code he gave me and voilą, an incredibly crowded page. I tried to move over to a CSS based 3 column layout, but I couldn't get it to work with 800x600 screens. So I am going to have to go back in and either come up with a layout that gives back some white space and works for people, or rip out that feature.
One question -- does anyone actually skim the list of headings on the right to see if there is anything they want to read? Thanks in advance for any feedback.
Posted by Geodog at January 20, 2003 02:22 AM | TrackBackMy apologies, but my web hoster has turned off commenting, due to a flood of obscene spam bringing the server to its knees. I hope to have this weblog transitioned over to Wordpress in the near future, so that I can have commenting up and working again. Until then, please feel free to send me your comments via my email contact form.. Please ignore everything below this comment.
Yea, we do look at the list of headings. But, most of us don't actually click . Well, sometimes we do. Does that help?
We are too lazy to even have a maintained link list at Mandarin.
Diggin your site dude.
Posted by: Meg on January 20, 2003 11:21 AMHey- I actually checked out the recent list BEFORE I read your latest update- funny, huh?
I had not actually _clicked_ on any of them. Does this speak to the distinction between Usefulness and Interesting?
You have a great site, btw. thanks for the hard work. You are adding to a great phenomenon.

Still wicked small default fonts -- I always need to bump my font size up to "medium" to make any of your permalink, comments, or trackback text legible.
Otherwise, I just ready every day, which makes categories sort of a moot point for me.
