The Abolition of Civil Rights Act of 2003?

The Center for Public Integrity somehow obtained a Justice Department proposal to expand the so-called Patriot Act. While I haven't read all 120 pages of the 12 Meg PDF file, I have read enough to be scared and outraged. The so-called Justice Department is proposing more powers to detain people without trial, deport aliens with out hearings, and of course, to keep it all secret and all at the discretion of the Attorney General. Hopefully there are enough patriots left in the Republican ranks to make sure that nothing like this passes, but I can't say that I feel confident about that.

Kudos to the center for publishing this, before Karl Rove has a chance to stage an event and then spring this on Congress, as if in direct response to the event.

Thanks to politec members for the link.
