Richard Perle, Prince of Darkness, strikes again

According to Joe Conanson of Salon, Richard Perle, the Prince of Darkness and head of the Defense Advisory Board, yesterday called Seymour Hersh a terrorist in an interview with CNN. This was because of an article that Hersh had written for the New Yorker detailing Perle's business dealings, where he has been taking "investments" from defense contractors ($20 million from Boeing alone) and apparently has been trying to extort money from the same Saudis he has been attacking publicly. Seymour Hersh is the journalist who broke the My Lai story almost 25 years ago, and he has been doing some of the finest post-911 national security reporting in the New Yorker. Not always what the Bush administration wanted reported, but I am not aware of any challenges to his facts.

Talk about a despicable and cynical use of 911. Profit from your position as head of the Defense Advisory Board, then call people reveal your business dealings "terrorists." Add to that the damage Perle has already done to NATO, and you have to ask, how more damage will the Bush administration let this man do to our country? They should remember, it wasn't people on the left who nicknamed Perle the Prince of Darkness, it was his fellow Republicans in the Reagan administration.
