3 years quit and counting

Generally speaking, I don't post about personal stuff, but every year at this time I make an exception.

Today is the third anniversary of my last cigarette. I have been 1097 days smoke free, or, as the best quit smoking site I found on the net, www.quitnet.com, calculates:

  • 38,396 cigarettes not smoked.

  • $8,638.88 saved

  • 9 months, 23 days, 7 hours of my life saved.

Quitting smoking was the hardest thing I ever did, and the smartest as well. Highly recommended, as is The Quit Net.

Congratulations. The best rewards from quitting smoking are probably immeasurable.

My grandmother quit smoking at around age 40 after a thirty year habit. As a kid, the adults would make her "start" cigarettes for them which naturally got her hooked. But I'm sure that quitting added years to her life.

She did it cold turkey too.

Thanks, Eugene. The best rewards are knowing that I'm not going to be contributing to health problems in my family, nor starting my kid on the road to cigarette addiction, and that I'm significantly more likely to be around for my kids adulthood.
